Do you like to watch people because it relaxes you? I mean does it feel soothing to watch a person brush her hair or did you enjoy watching your mom put her make- up on? Do you like certain noises?
Some people like the way a keyboard sounds or, to hear someone chew gum. Other people like the sound of a cash register or the sound of turning pages, in a book. Did you enjoy watching the relaxing way Bob Ross painted puffy white clouds?
If you are an under- aged kid, you most likely know what I am about to mention. So, this is for the middle-aged kids and the senior citizen kids.
Have you heard of ASMR? Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response
Videos have been made to trigger ASMR. You can look these videos up just by typing ASMR.
Not everyone gets tingly or falls asleep or, feels relaxation from these videos. In fact, people seem to either like these videos or really hate them, even triggered negatively by these videos. Scientist have tried to study ASMR but, studying something like this has its challenges…
It can look weird at first.
I have certainly heard of kids getting caught watching these videos and, with no way to explain to the parent who doesn’t feel tingly from these videos. It may simply appear to look voyeuristic. That’s not what it is about for the mass majority. While some videos may have a sexual vibe, a very small percentage of people studied, reported feeling a sexual response. For the mass majority, it actually triggers something closer to relaxation. It even puts people to sleep without drugs or alcohol or whatever.
I find it interesting that it’s the younger generation who seems to have embraced this in larger numbers, these days. It isn’t new. In fact, people seemed to be noticing this phenomenon in the 1800’s. While some celebrities have made videos, the popularity of these videos seemed to already be rising among the youth.
As you may have guessed, ASMR has been used in marketing for commercials, music and in film- Naturally.
If you have a hard time sleeping try tuning into these videos. Search for something you know relaxes you.
Don’t get caught 😊 Your kids might think you are strange. Or, they might make a recommendation…
So anyway, if you didn’t know about ASMR, now you do.
P.S. There are also a lot of videos for guided meditation or guided imagery.
P.S.S. Have you heard of binaural beats? These are tones or beats with or without music. That’s another controversial thing people try to tear down while others swear by it. Some people actually insist that they experience a wide variety of emotions depending on the video. Some people say that they suddenly remember things that they had long forgotten. These videos are intended to help heal listeners. Headphones are usually suggested. People are making these types of videos for a lot of different things.
There are people who say that popular music is fabricated with lower vibing tones. There might be something to it. I mean have you ever cried or felt depressed after listening to a certain song. It’s interesting how much music can impact us. On the flip side, music (or maybe sound) can also lift us up. What if it is more than just the lyrics?
If you are open to it and it feels right for you, look this stuff up- of course I would say use discernment as you explore…but stay open, friends.
